BJ’s Wholesale Club has partnered with Simbe to roll out their autonomous robots called “Tally” to all their 237 locations in order to utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven solutions to providing unprecedented real time insights as well as a greater degree of transparency in the business, which will boost their experience as well as the customers significantly.
Simbe and Tally, the tech giants
Simbe Robotics, headquartered in San Francisco are the global leaders in automation solutions, allowing the retailers to have visibility in their operations. It was a great decision to go along with them as they work with major retailers worldwide and are well reputed. As for Tally, it is the world’s first fully autonomous in store product auditing solutions. Using sensors the robot operates during normal store hours, without disturbing customers and requires very minimal infrastructure change. Tally’s friendly design fits perfectly into a stores environment, combining that with the Simbe’s powerful cloud tool, retailers can streamline their store performance, increase sales and optimize operational expenditures. It is already in use in grocery stores across the country, like Giant Eagle and Hy-Vee.

Design And Utilities
The red and white designed robot is equipped with a LED screen which shows messages such as “Hi, I’m Tally” and “Lets go!” and blinking eyes, and is a shy, compact and a slim designed robot. The robot cruises around the various department aisles a couple of times during the day, using AI it helps employees to restock faster and accurate inventory tracking, guides them to locating products and handling other major tasks, while all the data is being stored on cloud for later inspections and further analysis. The wonder of this system allows employees to focus more on customer service and gives them a chance to deliver a fantastic experience, as well as executing merchandising flawlessly.

The Road Ahead
In the quest to serve digital customers BJ’s CEO Bob Eddy plans to upgrades its locations as well. He recognizes that many of the stores weren’t constructed in a way to promote
e-commerce, considering that a couple of stores enabled pick up facilities to accelerate sales. Since they realized the value of capitalizing on pickup was massive, they’ll continue adding it to all their stores slowly, depending on the traffic and stocks of different regions.
BJ’s also intends to add five new stores to its collection, with the most desirable locations being New York, Ohio, North Jacksonville, Mt. Juliet, Alabama. Later it also plans to extend to Nashville, Tennessee’s largest city.
