After much time, Target has decided to throw itself in a new light in the retail business with the launch of a new subscription feature also known as Target 360. Target has launched Target 360 in hopes of increasing its e-commerce business.
How would the Target 360 stack up against other parts of Target’s established business? Target is known to already have two systems in place for their consumers known as the Target Circle and the Target Circle Card. The Target Circle is an app set in place to get the most deals at Target by shopping as a member and applying deals on discount. Members would receive free deals within the application. The Target Circle Card differs as individuals are able to save 5% more by stacking their savings with other Target Circle deals. Additionally, users that use the Target Circle Card are able to receive free 2-day shipping and receive up to 5% savings along with extendable returns. Target 360 compares to these options by offering same day delivery in as little as one hour along with delivery to someone else’s doorstep. Additionally, Target 360 offers sam day delivery from dozen’s of retailers along with free 2-day shipping and no rush returns. The difference is that the Target 360 comes at a price of $99 per year. Starting April 7th and until May 18th consumers could sign up for Target 360 and pay as little as $49 per year.

The launch of Target 360 comes from after seeing much success with other retailers such as Amazon and even Walmart. Target has searched for ways to increase their value while additionally driving e-commerce business to their platform. Target adds this feature after the success seen by membership programs for Amazon and Walmart. With Walmart launching its Walmart + retailers are able to increase their revenue with the perks of free shipping and free grocery deliveries.
Target’s launch of Target 360 seems like a very risky movie for such a large corporation. Why would they launch something like this now? It seems that the company is attempting to compete with other retail giants partially due to the large success seen by Amazon and other retailers. Because of this, the company is trying to keep up and keep in order with the retail giants. The only question is, will Target see success from launching Target 360?

Hey, Rutha!
This is a great article!
It’s true that Target’s move with Target 360 is a risky one, especially when trying to compete with Amazon. Establishing a new e-commerce business in a market that’s already dominated can be challenging. However, considering Target’s popularity for in-person shopping, it’ll be interesting to see if Target 360 can find success by offering same-day delivery and other perks.
